Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas and happy holidays from Nevaeh’s Rainbow!!

I have been extremly busy with my husband deer hunting all Fall, my kids, working full-time, and going to school part-time! I have taken a few months off from planning fundraisers and delivering carepacks. After the holiday season, I plan to focus more time and attention on planning another carepack delivery. Maybe for Valentine’s day!

I hope your Christmas is filled with love, magic, and memories!

10 Carepacks delivered

I delivered 10 more carepacks to St. Vincent’s NICU today. Thank you everyone for your continued support and generosity!

Coffee for Carepacks

Our fundraiser for October is Coffee for Carepacks!! I am selling delicious Berres Brothers coffee and all proceeds will go to Nevaeh’s Rainbow and provide carepacks for parents that have a baby in the NICU.

If you have never had Berres Coffee before, I highly recommend it!! My favorite is the Highlander Grogg – an explosion of caramel, butterscotch and hazelnut. My second favorite is the Packer Perc – buttery hazelnut with a kick of irish cream.

10 oz bags are $11. 10ct-1.5oz Variety Pack $18. 20ct-1.5oz Variety Pack $30.

You can also order on-line and have your order shipped right to you. Nevaeh’s Rainbow will still benefit if you use promo code NRPFR1112.

A description of the coffee is listed below, along with the order form. If you are interested in ordering from me, just send me a message. Thanks for your support!

Pizza fundraising success

Thank-you everyone that bought pizzas! $103.50 was made, and will be used for NIC-BOO care packs in October. I am very excited about making these carepacks! Halloween is my favorite holiday ever!

I received a thank you letter this weekend from the CEO of St. Vincent’s Hospital thanking me for my last carepacks. It is great knowing that people appreciate them, and what I am trying to do.

Stay tuned for my next fundraiser that will run the month of October. A little hint…if you are a coffee lover, you don’t want to miss this one!

How can you help?

If you don’t want to give a monetary donation, or order pizzas or participate in other fundraisers, you can still help the cause!! First of all, you can share this blog or my facebook page with family and friends. The more people who know about us, the better!

Secondly, I am always looking for donations of items to put in our bags. Some of these things are a dollar or less! So on your next grocery shopping trip, you could pick some of these items up and donate them to Nevaeh’s Rainbow! Common things I  put in the care packs and am always looking for include:

  • Bottled water
  • Small bottles of lotion
  • Mini bottles of hand sanitizer
  • Individual packs of tissue
  • Travel toothbrushes/toothpaste/toiletries
  • Lip balm
  • Individual or travel packs of Tylenol or other pain reliever
  • Pens
  • Crossword and puzzle books
  • Journals
  • Small photo albums
  • Children’s books
  • Newborn/preemie hats, mittens, booties, onesies
  • Blankets

What we include in the carepacks are not set in stone! If I find items that I think would go great, I pick them up!

Life

In a strange way, Nevaeh’s death has made me a better person. She made me realize just how fragile and short life really is. She has made me strive to make myself a better person. I feel like when I am doing something in her memory, I can do anything…I can change the world.

Even though I was 25 when Nevaeh passed away, she made me mature in a way that I hadn’t yet. I really grew up. I appreciated my family more, and stressed about the little things less. I came to realize in the big scheme of things, something as simple as my lipstick looking perfect, really wasn’t important. I started to take less, and give more. I started a new relationship with God. I decided instead of being bitter and mad at him, I was going to accept he had a much bigger purpose for sending us Nevaeh for such a short time.  I loved my husband more, and took him for granted less. Loosing Nevaeh strengthened our marriage and brought us to a whole new level together.

It’s important to me to do things in her memory…it’s one of the only things I can do to show my love for her now. I want people to know who she was. I want people to know how special she was to us. I want people to know how devastated we were to lose her, and how we still miss her every day. I want people to remember her. Although it was five years ago, and she was here for such a short time, I don’t want her memory to fade into thin air. I want people to realize that the pain of loosing a child is like a scar….at first it’s really raw and fresh. In time it starts to heal and fade a little bit, but it is always there. Just not as obvious as it first was.

These are all the reasons that I started Nevaeh’s Rainbow. I want her memory to live on, and help people in the process. I look forward to the month ahead of getting this project off the ground, and truly making a difference in some young mother’s life.
